Thermapen Yellow Classic Thermometer for Cooked Meats
Our Thermapen® Classic Thermometer is a must-have product for any business working within the food industry. With a large digital display and an extremely precise read-out of temperature over the range of -49.9 to 299.9oC, a 0.1oC resolution and an accuracy of ±0.4°C, this thermometer is like no other.
To maximise battery life, the thermometer powers off automatically after just ten minutes. It is fully configurable using simple switches found within the battery compartment; you can choose to disable auto-off mode, choose either oC or oF scales and choose either 1o or 0.1o resolution.
The casing is even washable and has a ‘Biomaster’ additive that aids in reducing bacterial growth, with the ergonomic rubber seal minimising risk of the ingress of water, dust, or food. Not only is it splashproof, but an accurate temperature reading of a product can be tested in just three seconds.
When applicable, a low battery and open circuit indication icons are displayed. The Thermapen is powered by two lithium coin cell batteries that have a minimum life expectancy of 1500 hours.
Our Thermapen® Classic Thermometer has a reduced tip, is stainless steel and has a Ø3.3 x 115mm food penetration probe to allow for convenient storage into the side of the instrument when it’s not in use.
HACCP is an extremely important part of cleaning procedures hence why we have a range of colour-coded products. Using different coloured thermometers for different food types or separate preparation areas massively reduced the risk of cross-contamination.
The Thermapen® has been tested in a stirred water bath and it reached 100% of the test temperature in just three seconds. Thermapen® is a registered trademark in the UK (2025607), EU (008449571) and the USA (3898535). It is also protected by EC Regd.Des.No. 001580473.

What Makes the Thermapen so Fast Compared to Other Thermometers?
The Thermapen is manufactured using thermocouple technology rather than mass-produced thermistor technology. Food standards agencies tend to recommend thermocouples for measurement of cooked meat products and thin portions. A reduced-diameter needle tip is also used on the probe.
How Long Should my Thermapen’s Batteries Last?
Thermapen batteries have a minimum life expectancy of 1500 hours. Within the battery compartment you can enable or disable the auto-off feature, however keeping the auto-off feature enabled will ensure an extended life of the batteries.
Will the Thermapen Tell Me When My Meat is Done?
No – the Thermapen doesn’t work to advise when your meat is done, the purpose of the Thermapen is to instead tell you the actual temperature of your product (within 3 seconds) to allow you to decide whether your product is ready. You should seek advice from official channels on safe and best cooking temperatures.
Where Should I Place the Probe Tip to See if it’s Cooked?
When testing to see if your meat is cooked, the coldest part will be the very centre of the thickest portion. With larger food products, you should take quick readings with your thermometer in several locations to be sure that the entire portion is cooked. If you are chilling a food, the centre of the thickest part will be the last to cool. Ensure that you penetrate the food with the probe and place the very tip of the probe where you want to measure.
