Wings are always a crowd-pleaser, whether you're firing up the grill for a summer get-together or craving a bold and satisfying snack. But they’re not just for meat lovers! In this post, we share two mouth-watering recipes made with high-quality ingredients from Butchers-Sundries: classic Smokey BBQ Chicken Wings and a flavour-packed vegetarian Cauliflower Wings alternative.

Serves: 4 people
Ingredients:
- 1kg Chicken Wings
- Stokes Hot & Spicy BBQ Sauce (for dipping)
- 100g Middletons Smokey BBQ Glaze
- Roosters Spicy Chicken Breading (as needed)
Vegetarian Option:
- 1 Medium cauliflower head
- 1 Hot & Spicy Marinade Seasoning Retail Sachets
- 50g Middletons Smokey BBQ Glaze
- Roosters Spicy Chicken Breading (as needed)
- Stokes Hot & Spicy BBQ Sauce (for dipping)
- 1-2tbsp Vegetable Oil
Method:
- Preheat your oven to 200 °C
- Pat dry the chicken wings, place in a resealable bag or container, and add Smokey BBQ Glaze. Shake well to coat thoroughly
- For extra crisp: toss coated wings in Rooster’s Spicy Chicken Breading
- Arrange wings on a baking sheet or grill. Bake/BBQ for 25–30 minutes, turning halfway, until crisp and fully cooked
- In the last 5 minutes, brush with additional glaze or mix with Stokes Hot & Spicy BBQ Sauce for a spicier finish
- Serve hot with extra hot sauce on the side
Vegetarian Method:
- Preheat oven to 200 °C
- In a bowl, toss cauliflower florets with a little oil and sprinkle generously with Hot & Spicy Marinade Seasoning. Mix to coat well
- For crunch, dredge florets in Rooster’s breading
- Arrange on a lined baking tray and roast for 20 minutes
- Remove briefly, toss florets in Smokey BBQ Glaze, and return to oven for an extra 8–10 minutes until glazed and crispy
- If desired, serve with Stokes Hot & Spicy BBQ Sauce drizzled or on the side for dipping
