Honey BBQ Pulled Pork Burgers: Recipe

Slow-cooked until perfectly tender, then coated in a rich, sweet honey BBQ glaze, this recipe transforms a classic pork shoulder into a standout BBQ favourite. Served in soft brioche burgers and finished with your choice of toppings, it’s the perfect balance of comfort food and premium flavour.

Making time: 4-6 hours

Serves: 4-6 people

Ingredients: 

  • 1.5-2kg Pork shoulder (boneless)
  • 2tbsp BBQ seasoning
  • 1tbsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1tsp Black pepper
  • 1tsp Garlic granules
  • 250ml Apple juice or cider
  • 150g MRC Honey BBQ Glaze
  • 4-6 Brioche Burgers

Method: 

  • Pat the pork dry and coat evenly with BBQ seasoning, paprika, brown sugar, garlic granules, and black pepper
  • Place into a slow cooker or covered roasting tray. Add apple juice or cider to keep the meat tender
    • Slow cooker: 6 hours on low
    • Oven: 140°C for 4–5 hours
    • Cook until the pork easily pulls apart
  •          Remove from heat and shred using two forks. Keep a small amount of cooking juices for added flavour
  • Mix through the Honey BBQ Glaze, ensuring the pork is fully coated in a rich, sticky finish
    • Use approx. 100–120g glaze per 1kg of meat
    • Heat for an extra 10–15 minutes to lightly caramelise
  •          Lightly toast the brioche buns and fill generously with the glazed pulled pork
