Sticky BBQ Honey Chicken Skewers: Recipe

As the warmer weather arrives, butchers and home cooks will begin to look for quick and flavourful meals they can cook on the BBQ or under the grill. One of the easiest ways for butchers to add value to their counter is by offering simple marinated options that are ready to cook at home.

These Sticky BBQ Honey Chicken Skewers combine sweet honey flavours with a smoky BBQ glaze to create a crowd-pleasing recipe that works perfectly for spring and summer BBQs.

Making time: 50 Minutes

Serves: 4 People

Ingredients:

  • 600g Chicken breast, diced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 Red pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1 Red onion, cut into chunks
  • Wooden/metal skewers
  • 2tbsp Middleton BBQ Glaze
  • 1tbsp MRC Honey Glaze
  • 1tbsp Olive oil
  • 1tsp Smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Method:

  • In a bowl, mix the Middletons BBQ Glaze, MRC Honey Glaze, olive oil, smoked paprika, salt and pepper until well combined
  • Add the diced chicken to the glaze mixture and coat evenly. Leave to marinate for at least 15 minutes so the glaze can fully develop its flavour
  • Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers, alternating with pieces of red pepper and onion to add colour and flavour
  • Cook on a preheated BBQ or grill for around 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally until the chicken is fully cooked and slightly caramelised from the glaze
  • Brush with a little extra glaze during the final minute of cooking to create a sticky BBQ coating
